If you or your loved one is a veteran, you or they may qualify for hospice care coverage using VA benefits. In this post, we will answer a few frequently asked questions about VA hospice care.
- Q: Who is eligible for VA hospice care?
- A: So long as you are an enrolled veteran and you meet the medical requirements for hospice care (a terminal diagnosis with an estimated six months to live), you are eligible for VA hospice care. It is included in the VHA Standard Medical Benefits Package.
- Q: Are there copays for VA hospice care?
- A: No. You will never owe copays for VA hospice care. That is true regardless of whether the VA is the provider or a contractor is the provider.
- Q: What is included in VA hospice care?
- A: VA hospice care includes the full range of hospice care benefits, including in-home care, palliative care, physical therapy, respite care, wound care, specialized care, counseling and more. Ask us about our services during your consultation. You also can read more about the ways that we provide specialized support to our veteran patients.
- Q: How do you access VA hospice care?
- A: To access VA hospice care, you need to enroll with the VA if you have not already. You then need to contact the VA, which is something we can do for you. You can read in more detail about how to access VA hospice benefits in this post.
